현승의 개인전 《평범한 ■씨의 휴가 The Ordinary ■'s Ordinary Vacation》

작가 현승의는 공간에 내재된 여러 가지 담론들을 냉소적인 시각으로 풀어낸다. 인간과 자연의 관계, 관광 자본의 어두운 측면들을 다루어 왔으며, 이번 전시에서는 가상의 인물 '■씨'의 제주 휴가를 상징적인 이미지들로 구성하여 환상의 섬 제주에 담긴 다양한 이야기들을 들춰낸다. 이상화된 풍경 너머에 작동하는 자본의 논리와 생태, 환경, 사회문제 등을 밀도 있게 묘사하는 검은 회화들은 우리 모두가 직면한 현재의 상황, 그리고 다가올 미래에 대한 질문을 던진다.

Seungeui Hyun

Seungeui Hyun presents various discourses inherent in space from a skeptical point of view. Previously dealing with the relationship between man and nature, and the dark side of tourism business, Hyun in this exhibition reveals multiple stories of a fictional character Mr. ■'s vacation in the paradise, Jeju Island, using symbolic images he created. Many issues existing behind the ideal landscape, such as law and system of capital, and environmental and social problems, are condensed in the black paintings. These works question the current situation we all face and the future to come. ​
